Matsumaru Fumihiko is an average salaryman with no girlfriend. He invites his colleague Tanaka to a movie but is stood up. About to toss the tickets into a dustbin, a cute girl appears and asks him not to waste them. After a movie and dinner, he escorts her home and finds out that they live in the same neighbourhood. As fate will have it, her apartment catches fire only hours later.
