The story is set in a fictional Germany and centers around the outbreak of biomechanical creatures named Demoniacs, who rise from corpses and attack people mindlessly. The Demoniacs have the ability to merge with most technology including cars and motorcycles, not only gaining control of them but also enhancing their performance greatly. Against them is a group of people known as XAT, Xenogenesis Assault Team, who police these Demoniacs in an attempt to keep the peace and discover the reasons for the Demoniac change. All the while, a number of human-turned-Demoniacs appear. Some use their powers for good whilst others for evil. One will rise above all other Demoniacs to become the Blassreiter.

At the hospital where the doctor is taken in, Joseph meets a woman named Sasha who is the doctor's friend.

The Apocalypse Knights manipulate specially developed ultra-weapons and easily take down the horde of Amalgams that had previously given XAT such a hard time. Amanda is more enraged rather than stunned.

Amanda learns of Hermann’s destination from Snow, leaves her to deal with the raging Joseph and heads toward XAT headquarters where Wolf has taken shelter.

Upon hearing Snow's voice, Joseph regains his sanity. He is immediately taken into custody by Zwölf to have his enhancements tuned up once again. His purpose is to find out whether Joseph, who has the power to enforce submission of the Demoniacs, has awakened or not. However, the ICBMs manage to deflect the interceptions with their state-of-the-art system and edge ever closer to German airspace.
