At the end of the 21st century, two boys and a girl grow up in a large city on Earth, watch the launch of a rocket ship, go to school and then university to earn their diplomas. As the close group of friends turns into adults, the young men still are good friends, but both love the now young woman. The blond-haired man, Prokion, finally proposes and marries the woman Mira, the dark-haired one, Subaru, is heartbroken, but wishes them well. Still on their honeymoon, an incident at the space port calls for Prokion's attention: The Centauris Beta Signal Ship arrives, but its hatch will not open, and reckless handling could have dire consequences. A thorough search of the ship reveals no crew, other than what appears to be a pile of ash covering a human skeleton. The ash dissolves a small part of Prokion's glove, infected him with a space disease, quickly killing him. As the doctors soon find out, the disease can be spread via skin contact, and Mira may also have been infected. If so, she will be dead in six hours. So, a doctor proposes to cryogenically freeze Mira, giving Subaru several years time to locate the origin of the disease, and find a treatment. With his best friend dead, and his only love on the brink of death, Subaru sets out into space, leaving Earth, determined to save Mira... — written by foo2 Note: This work was produced as the ninth special animated piece for the 24-hour television program by Tezuka Productions, which took full charge of the original story, screenplay and director.
