"Have you ever played the Kokkuri-san divination game with someone? Players summon a fox spirit to answer questions by moving the coin their index fingers are touching. Is Kokkuri-san simply a children's game, or is it a form of necromancy? The truth is unclear. However, you must never play this game alone. If you play it alone..." — intro A little girl named Ichimatsu Kohina, who refers to her emotionally detached self as a doll, ends up summoning a Kokkuri-san, a low-ranking spirit in Japanese folklore. The Kokkuri-san she calls turns out to be a white-haired handsome, young man. At first he merely intends to haunt her, but soon he becomes worried about her terrible eating habit of cup ramen for every meal, and decides to make her three meals a day, using 50 different ingredients. As it turns out she lives all by herself, and since she should have a responsible adult by her side, Kokkuri-san resolves to keep haunting her in order to protect her from all the strangeness out there. And so Kohina's now tumultuous life together with the guardian fox spirit begins: further complicated by a sudden encounter with a two-faced dog spirit named Inugami and the alcoholic gambling tanuki spirit Shigaraki...
